I’m infinitely grateful to have projects that leave this kind of impact on humanity - but those who know me can tell you I wasn’t always this driven and outward-focused.
I grew up in a poor (but loving) household. My teachers told me I wouldn’t amount to much. In my teens I almost went to jail for computer hacking.
My knee-jerk reaction in early adulthood was to prove everyone wrong. So after a few false starts - including my own record label at age 21 - I decided to get really good at affiliate marketing.
And it worked.
Google started sending me six-figure cheques. One of my launches with internet marketing legend Frank Kern made over $5 million in under 7 days. I moved into a 5,000 square foot house overlooking the Pacific ocean, with a Ferrari and a Maserati in the garage. My monthly staff overheads alone were $160,000!
One of my marketing ventures even got me into Inc. 500’s coveted list.
But after a few years of the rock-star lifestyle, my health and my deeper dreams started catching up to me. I was overweight with high blood pressure. I had a drinking and smoking problem. I was perpetually depressed. And the money felt meaningless without a higher purpose to frame it in.
One day, after a particularly nasty existential crisis while taking a shower in my oversized bathroom, I knew I had to find my true answers to lasting joy and fulfillment - or risk burning out for good.
A few days of deep meditation later, I had my answer: I would find a way to merge my love of technology and entrepreneurship, with the love of ancient wisdom, science and education that my mom had grown in me as a child.
I vowed to help people escape my personal trap of fragmented success, and instead empower them to have it ALL: a fulfilling career, liberating wealth, unbreakable purpose, rewarding relationships and a deeply spiritual existence.
Today more than ever, I believe this pursuit of holistic success is just what the world needs to overcome some of our most pressing challenges.
